New Minor Development Cited as Exemplary NEH-funded Project

New Orleans LA – ��̽�鶹’s development of an undergraduate minor in Digital Humanities, Data Science and Digital Justice has been cited as one of 102 exemplary projects funded by the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) by the National Humanities Alliance’s (NHA) report “NEH for All”.

The College of Arts & Sciences was awarded a $35,000 Grant for the initiative, which is designed to expand the role of the humanities in undergraduate education.

In addition, NHA selected Xavier as one of its six lightning round presenters for leading a discussion on introducing curricular innovations during its annual meeting in March. The University was also part of the ��̽�鶹 Delegation for NEH's Humanities Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill, which included meetings with ��̽�鶹 legislators.

"We are honored and grateful to be selected as one of 102 exemplary projects funded by NEH,” said Dr. Kim Vaz-Deville, Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, who is director of the project. “The Digital Humanities minor planning team has done a fantastic job at making this a truly interdisciplinary effort and developing a minor that embodies Xavier’s mission.”

“Attending the NHA Annual Meeting and Advocacy Day in Washington D.C. allowed for a fruitful, reciprocal exchange with humanities faculty from all over the nation,” she added. “The planning team represented Xavier incredibly well at our Capitol Hill meetings."��
